Converting a 295 to 350

As I get closer to rebuilding the engine in my 94 EZGO, was wondering if it is worth putting the crank / piston / rods out of a 350 in place of the 295 assembly?

And raising the compression a touch? advancing the timing?

Or are these engine's already on the edge of their durability limit?

using a 350 bottom end with a 295 head works great. adds a noticeable amount of pwr.

do a genreral search. there is alot you can do to these eng. there was at one time a supercharger kit avail. RIP FAST FRED

Re: Converting a 295 to 350

I have had the 350 bottom end with the 295 top end and loved it. Mucho low end power. I had 265 pounds of compression on each cyl.. As far as the timing, I advance the timing on all my engines.. Gives it a little more pep!! I had my 295-350 setup with a shorter belt and an MSD ign. box to bypass the rev limiter and it ran with no issues. I used common sense and made sure my rpm's didnt get to high but I loved the power it had.

Just to avoid confusion we are talking about using a 350 bottom end ( complete ) and putting a 295 topend on it.

The 350 crank wont physically fit into a 295 block?

Re: Converting a 295 to 350

I've never done it that way, but I don't see why it wont.... The 295 block has smaller pistons than the 350 anyway. So trying to get a larger piston in that 295 block will require some machining. Even then I don't know if it will work. Never tried it that way but I would love to see what works out.

Do you know how much bigger the 350 pistons are?

Not sure... You might PM Mike with Mikes Motor Toys or Tom at CPP and get an accurate measurement.

Re: Converting a 295 to 350

Looks like the 295 2.51'' and the 350 is 2.63'' I have never seen one of these engines apart but a 120 thousandths is a good stretch.
