One More Primary Clutch Question.......

I am in the process of rebuilding my primary clutch. I installed new buttons and a weight kit. my old weights were just flopping around and worn out. After correctly installing the brand new weight kit, when you move them in and out, they feel tight. Is this normal? I don't know how they are supposed to feel when they are new. once you compress the two weights together with that wave washer in the middle, it feels tight. Thanks in advance for the help, and I want to thank Lockman again for sending me the correct orientation of the button springs......Joe

Yes they should be tight

So both of the weights will engage/release by centrifugal force even if it's tight? I'm just asking, because I don't want to put it all back together just to take it apart again. If it doesn"t move freely, will it still work properly? like I said, I don't know the difference between old and new. Sorry, and thanks again.... Joe::?

It depends on what you mean by "tight"!
With the wave washer between the primary and secondary weights, and the white plastic washers on the outside of the two,
Yes, it should be snug, or at least have some sort of resistance!

When reading my manual, I did notice one note:
"Make sure the concave side of the wave washer faces the primary weight"
(The larger, bent portion of the wave washer, towards the larger weight)

Why it makes a difference??? I have no clue! :dontknow:

Well, thank you Tpg and Lockman for the replies.I assembled it correctly(with the concave side of the washer facing the larger weight) I was just worried that they were too tight. All three feel the same- firm, but not to the point that I can't move them with my fingers. I ordered a new Thrust Washer, and when it comes in, I'll finish putting it together. Thank you both for the help...Joe

The friction area is larger on the secondary
weight to delay its affect till higher RPM.
