Hey toomey, it seems to me the pulser coil is nothing but a pulse generator. Being a pulse generator it should produce AC voltage when the engine is cranked.Probably .5 volts AC or more. I use this method to identify bad pulse generators on cars all the time. Good luck and I hope this info helps.
