I have a 99 DS series cart that I bought a few months ago, original controller was a 225amp , same as yours , I had little to no torque for hills or inclines, especially since the cart is lifted and has 22 inch tires on it, I opted to send my controller off to be upgraded to 400amps, made a WORLD of difference, I did also upgrade my cables to 2ga and upgraded my solenoid also, but the controller throwing the extra amps gives you the torque, and supposedly won't necessarily kill your motor , at least not until you go above 400/450 amps I'm told.
