With the piston at "TDC" install the cam so the "big hole" in the cam alighns with the "dot" on the crankshaft tooth (pretty good marks for that and the cam lobes will be in a position where the valves are closed), for the balancer...you will need to turn the crank "counter clockwise" to get the balancer mass past the crank mass. When you turn the crank back to the cam/crank mark, the balancer mark/cam mark and the crank marks should form a "V". Hope the picture and discription help.
