I spoke with the company that sold me my voltage reducer and said that the yellow wire was a turn on wire that needed the same voltage as the red(positive) wire. I ran a cable to the switch and hooked up to my positive switch wire. On my 2012 cart there was a blue wire (switch 48 volts) and a green(48volts constant) wire. I hooked up to the blue wire and worked great. I also hooked up an inline switch in case I wanted to drive the cart with no radio or lights.
