A different motor won't necessarily make your cart run faster. Speed is determined by engine rpm, and you can't get much higher rpms than a 2-stroke. Your engine will be limited to about 5500rpm. That's if you put a lot of work into it. The 2pg design just doesn't allow for much higher rpms. 3pg is a different story.
Your best bet is to find an ME29 transaxle out of a 92-93 4-stroke Marathon and swap it in. That way you can use any 4-stroke motor you want, and build it for speed.
