The resistor and diode do not protect against catastrophic errors. Typically in Sepex drive carts 3 things cause the controller to burn up. A direct short on the input or the output side. Overload or excess amperage draw. Motor failure.
Had a guy tell me his DCX control failed so he put the old stock control back in, 100 yds later the motor failed on the reduced stock control...
