I can buy 6-8V cart batteries at Sams for $72/ea. Add to that a charger ($300) and my upgrade cost is: ~$750. This also gets me new batteries which I'll need soon anyway.

I assume it will get me more speed (48 vs. 36 volts going into the same motor). The 2 questions on the table are:

How much more speed will I get?
Will I need to upgrade the controller or anything else as well?
