I am looking at my CC puller now. It looks like a threaded bolt alright but the simplicity ends there. It spins on a shaft which runs through the center of it and pushs on the crank end when tightened
Good luck making that from stuff at your local hardware store. I think even Mc Gyver would have trouble with that.....
