Default Re: Need help with older EZGO 2 Stroke Drive Belt

Hi,

The 2 GX-444s are different from yamaha clutches

Locking the park/hill brake will prevent you from being able to remove the drive belt.

To remove the belt, first remove the dust cover from the driven clutch. Then roll the top of the belt over the top of the driven (on rear end) clutch. Then rotate the driven clutch by hand until the belt pops off.

Next, push the govenor arm forward (towards front of car). Twist it so that you can get the narrow edge between the engine cradle and the front of the driven clutch. Then slip it past and again twist the belt so that you can pass it between the movable sheave of the driven clutch and the engine.

Once it is past the engine you can remove the belt from the car by removing it from the drive clutch and below the car (you'll see why its easier to drop it from the bottom when you get there ).

Putting it back on is the easy part of the job. Put it on the drive clutch first, and roll it on to the driven.
