Running the Lithium cells to the point the charger will not work can create potential issues inside the cells (shunts) that can create problems later.

As long as the cells were evaluated after the incident to make sure they were charging to the same voltage and holding the same capacity as before, it should have been fine.

A lot of times the HV cell cutoff is just done by an "enable" signal to the charger rather than a physical relay disconnect of the charging current path, do You have an external relay to isolate the charger in case of an HV condition?

Sorry for your loss on that nice cart and I am glad of your quick reaction anticipating a catastrophic event.

Hopefully some good information can be derived from this situation to create better safety systems for other users.
