Sounds like the main jet may be blocked if it idles then dies with more throttle. Also make sure it is not getting too much air like if the airbox is not closed properly or is modified, the carb will have to be jetted or repair the airbox.

Possibly a weak spark can cause that but I've not seen that on a cart. Spark testers are like $5 and handy to have. One trick that sometimes works for that is to pull the plug boot off, then put it on but pull it back up a little so there is a gap between the clip in there and the plug tip. That gives a stronger spark or will give no spark at all.
