An auto parts store will have a modern hydrometer. You do not want the old floating ball type.
If you change one battery you may make it through the season. The old batteries will make the new one old before long... but this may be your best bet, if the others are still good.... The hydrometer will tell the tale if you let them sit 12 before testing.
Idle storage in the heat = is a formula for battery demise. Remove the heat & have somebody recharge once a month to get more years out of your batteries.
