I put the Plowman's performance G1 muffler on mine. It didn't really feel like it gained any power, but I went from 19 mph to 27 mph. I also did the jet kit at the same time. It sounds more like a 2 stroke should, but not loud. These poor 215cc golf cart engines just aren't made for power. But, if something in your muffler is "rattling" then that has to be annoying. Surely cutting it apart carefully won't ruin it, so go for it.
