Mine is a 1984 G1-AM4. It is the exact model that is important in finding your manual. I bought the LIT-11616-G1-83. The manual that I bought is not EXACTLY the same as my cart, but close enough for the work I need to do. According to the second page, it covers the G1A/M/E/M (3,4,5). A few pages of the manual are written for the G1-AM3, but the majority of it is written specifically for the G1-A3 & G1-E3 (E=electric). This manual is the closest I could find for my cart, but I am NOT overhauling an engine.

According to the manual, "the frame serial number is located on the left hand side of the rectangular pipe by the rear bumper. The first three numbers identify the model. This is followed by a dash. The remaining digits identify the production number of the unit." The G1-A3 model used J17-000101 as the starting frame serial number sequence. This number is also used as the Engine serial number sequence (found on the right hand side of the crank case cover).

The G1-A series included these models and serial numbers:
  • 1979 G1-A J10 J10-000101
  • 1980 G1-A1 J10 J10-007705
  • 1981 G1-A2 J10 J10-030101
  • 1982 G1-A3 J17 J17-000101
  • 1983 G1-AM3 J24 J24-000101
  • 1984 G1-AM4 J31 J31-000101
  • 1985 G1-AM5 J31 J31-100101
  • 1986 G1-AM J31 J31-140101
