A wider stance will give more side stability during turns, but that's where the benefits end. Turning radius will increase. Steering effort will increase. Front tires might rub while turning sharply. So adding wheel spacers is not without it's issues. What you don't want to do is cause other problems trying to fix a problem.

Your cart looks like it's "wide enough" to me, just by looking at the photo. Not sure I'd make it wider if I didn't have to.

What kind of handling issues are you having? Can you describe?
