In my opinion, you made the best choice. Yes, they have low end torque. My club car was set to speed option 4, which is the one we have to pay club car for and we get a code to program into the controller. I gaind some speed but lost a little torque. I pull trailers and I operate another IQ that pulls a kiddie train loaded with people. Check around the forum and you may find other articles where they pull trailers too. They will do it!!! But, like anything, overkill can be ridiculous some times.
