check for a good solid spark. (if not then check the timing (.015)
pull the carb and clean the fuel jet VERY CLEAN(with a wire and carb cleaner)
leave the air cleaner hose off the carb.
put a new inline fuel filter on.
THEN WHEN IT STARTS; if its back firing check the points settings (.015)
