Default Re: High voltage lithium

I'm new to electric carts but learn quickly.

All the posts I see for Club Car and EZ GO speed mods seem to do it the hard way. Is there something different about them versus my Tomberlin and Gem cars?

Tomberlin came alive with stock parts by increasing voltage from 48 to 55v or better yet 66 volts.

More torque. Speed up from 24 to 35 mph.
Was able to turn armature current down from 300 amps to 200 amps.
Motor and controller run cooler than previous.

72 volt gem was increased to 100 volts. Current was also cut back.

Why the push for high current? Sepex motors seem to love more voltage.
