99 is a unitized transaxle, it's all in one.

96 and earlier were separate transmission/axle assembly. On these the center case is offset to the left side of the cart, and the transmission housing is above the right axle tube and there is a big gap between the axle and the housing.


97 and later are unitized. The center case with transmission and differential combined, is more towards the middle of the axle.
