Lot of people think that makes them faster. You should have no throttle opening just after the pedal switch starts it, then you will have no problems. You can also try setting the carb to idle just faster than the starter that can help them start quicker, if your carb has an idle mix screw I don't know if all do. That helps get a slow idle.
