Question Just a thought about bypassing the governor

I have a 1990 Yamaha G2 that runs great and is all stock. My question is my kids drive this cart and the speed is around 12 MPH and that is good for them.

But i like to kick it up a bit for me (NOT MY WIFE) i was thinking of running a cable like a choke cable that has a knob on it like a choke cable has and running it back to the governor link and add it to the end of the rod so i can pull out to have more speed or push it in so it's back to normal. I'm just wondering would with this work. Does anyone have an opinion on this or has it been done before. I am new to working on golf carts any input i would be grateful.
