Yes, exactly. For one simply not to use as much power. If you have BOTH then one solenoid acts as the main, only energized when under power while the other is either in forward or reverse with the coil energized. Just using the reversing contactor replaces BOTH the solenoid and F/R switch and is easier to hook up....basically theres no reason the use a main solenoid. You can do it either way but I dont think I've ever seen anyone use both.
