Re: My VC 460 Omega
I have the same long rod from Vegas I got for a special build. I was looking through NR Racing parts and found an upgraded set of rod bolts. They had a real high tensile strength that I liked. I also saw a video which had an original bolt snap. I changed them this afternoon, I was impressed -- the main bolt body was much larger. I would recommend these to anyone using this rod for a special build. After you handle and change them out you'll know it was the right way to go.

Re: My VC 460 Omega
I am going to use the ARC rod in Omega but if I do more with my long rod VC 460 I will be sure to upgrade to those.

Re: My VC 460 Omega
My torque plate arrived from NRracing today. I first seen this item on Paulscarts youtube site. My bore dial indicator has not shown up yet so I can't proceed on getting a more perfect cylinder bore for the Probe forged piston.

Re: My VC 460 Omega
Here are the pics of the Probe produced forged piston. Note even the exhaust valve relief is deeper for valve clearance in this critical area.

Re: My VC 460 Omega
I had a Ford Probe and I believe it had a "zero interference" cam system -- meaning when you broke a cam belt you didn't bend a valve like a lot of today's engines. The valve pockets would be deeper then some.

Re: My VC 460 Omega
I will take detailed measurements before and after installing the torque plate before honing to see what effect it really has. P.S. I did find more areas on the side cover that I didn't like ,so further deburring will be required. Also strongly considering adding more crank case vents to the side cover. Both ARC racing and Paulscarts think this is needed.

The torque plate is a necessary tool for cylinder work. It's hard to get people to believe the bolt pockets expand and bulge enough you can have a serious problem getting the rings to seat. |

Re: My VC 460 Omega
I was looking at your piston and what I noticed was no wrist pin clips in the picture. What holds the wrist pin in place.

Re: My VC 460 Omega
The wire circlips like the stocker. They are still sealed in a plastic bag so I don't misplace them. P.S. After further inspection I found areas in the block that need more work.
