Default 36 volt charger EZ GO/ Textron

have a charger that i know works fine but the timer doesn’t. If I hooked it to an Alexa plug in smart outlet and set a timer in it would it suffice? How long should i let it charge and at what max voltage should the battery pack safely read for 36 volt pack? Thanks for the help!

Thumbs up Re: 36 volt charger EZ GO/ Textron

Putting it on a timer is a guess. It depends on how low the batteries are discharged. It's going to take several times to get to know how much charge you will need for them. I would keep a eye on it and when the needle is down to around 5amps stop it. Then let it sit for at least 6 hrs and see where the voltage is then. Then go from there.

Ok I appreciate your help. That makes sense.

That antique has a 12 hour timer and the label says to set the knob to the "ON" position and the charging is finished when the "OFF position is reached.

I suspect a 12 hour AC outlet timer would duplicate the original charge cycle.

That max safe voltage for a 36V pack is about 50V. (2.79VPC -Volts per Cell - is listed on the attached Trojan charge profile.)

That was the plan but I was going to be a little extra and stick it on a smart plug timer because...why not
