Question 8 Contacts on V_Glide?

The V-Glide has 8 contacts and only 6 leads. This is on a 92 36 volt. Only 5 of these go to the coils. Just curious.

. . . without having one in my hand to look at, my GUESS would be that the first pad is the "rest" position for wiper arm with no associated voltage . . . then depending on how the 6 studs are mounted and connected to the pads, it may be for smooth transition in providing the power to the resistor coils . . . just my WAG . . .

Thanks. And thank you for the diagram. Just had all this apart today. Broke my V-glide yesterday taken it apart. The plastic the holds the bolt for the brush in the corner. Used some JB weld for plastic and seem to be holding for now. i will get one ordered to have on hand.

That is a very easy place for those to break, I've had several apart and ended up only having a couple which remained unbroken. The plastic just gets weak from heat and years of the harsh environment in the battery compartment.
