Right. The whole system must be working somewhat or the cart would not run on jacks. The only difference between running on jack stands and on the ground is load and in the system that means more amperage delivery which is why I say battery or amperage delivery system problem IF IF the motor is ok.

I had the same issue about month ago on a series cart. The cart would work great in reverse, but when put in forward it would shutter and almost want to move in reverse. Everything checked out good as for batteries and connections. Replaced the controller and the cart works great.

Was reading elsewhere on the forum, instead of working, and saw something about a twisted bolt on the motor possibly causing problems. This cart had been worked on before(motor cables were labeled). Any chance they twisted something too hard?
I'm going to try the motor and if that doesn't fix it, try a controller.
Really appreciate the advice. I'm sure there are more important things in the world than a guy with a broken cart in his garage. Appreciate your time.

It's why we're here. Everyone could use a hand at one time or another. Who better to help than others that share the same passion?

Update. Put new motor on the cart. When in forward it goes backwards slowly with wheels off the ground and in reverse it really goes. With wheels on the ground in forward it stutters and tries to go backward but won't. In reverse it runs perfect backward. It is wired correctly. Put the other motor back on and things were just like they were before. I'm guessing bad controller and not real sure about the motor?

Same exact symptoms I had. I am leaning towards the controller as its the only thing left to replace.

For the series motor use the SR48400 or 500a control.

Ok. Replaced controller same problem. Something is wired wrong. Have a 3 post controller(series cart). Where does the s2 wire from the motor go?

Update. In the end I had a bad f&r, bad controller, bad motor and was wired wrong. Replaced all that and re-wired based on diagrams that were posted and have a cart that runs like its hair is on fire. Appreciate all the advice scottyb and everyone else. Was stumped several times.
