Re: Battery questions
That charger is trash! Don't waste a dollar fixing it. (shipping it off for "rebuild", not much you can do to fix it yourself). I think it has 2 failures, bad connections where the DC cord wires plugs into the charger board (easily fixed), and software corruption causing voltage errors problems (an easy fix for someone who can touch the software, then charge you several hundred bucks). I can't prove the software part tho. I have never seen any "blown" part in that charger to fix with a 10 minute solder job, but I have seen bad connection at the board where the DC cord wires plug in, the boot around some of the wires will be charred.

Thanks guys for the input. I'll be ordering a new one soon. Borrowing my neighbors for the time being.

Re: Battery questions
I installed a brand new set of US 2200 batteries. Now when I charge them, I get an odd smell in my garage. Is this normal with new batteries? Such as breaking in or is something wrong?

I saw on another thread about batteries, Scottyb said "after they are broken in properly". How do I do this? Just hoping to get the best life out of these new batteries I can. Thanks

Re: Battery questions
That smell may be the batteries "boiling" during the charge, which is perfectly normal.
Just remember, check battery water levels *OFTEN*. Especially on new batteries. My pack is not 'new' anymore so I check the water level once a month now. |
