Re: Club Car 2000.5 DS motor upgrade
Ok, I think I'll go with the FX503 from FSIP. Chap didn't mention upgrading the solonoid or F/R switch or cables. Do I need to do that?

Re: Club Car 2000.5 DS motor upgrade
My Regen 1 has a 200 amp solenoid stock - which is likely fine for intermittent higher loads. Not sure if yours does - but it probably does. F/R is a simple rocker - would not need one. The bigger cables simply get more amps to your motor for hill climbing - I would do that regardless - it just makes sense to deliver the amps you are paying for to your motor. Thin/stock cables won't/can't do it as effectively.

Re: Club Car 2000.5 DS motor upgrade
One other thing. If I go ahead with this particular controller (FX503 from FSIP), and I want to upgrade my motor in the future, will I be able to still use this new controller?

Re: Club Car 2000.5 DS motor upgrade
Being an original Regen 1 you have a few more big cables (eg dynamic braking solenoid) etc. BUT in fact those will be eliminated with the FSIP upgrade. Its probably more sensible to use your existing cables to complete the install of the controller, and then order-them-by-custom-length once you have mounted the controller and know the exact lengths required for each (might save some lengths and give you cleaner install, too). All big cables will ultimately need replacement with higher gauge (eg those that run from batteries to controller & solenoid, the pack neg cable thru the OBC).
A number of site sponsors carry large ga. cables and a few may be willing to make specific lengths. That would be best, since they know the quality of cables needed - but make sure you tell them of your planned/future motor upgrade and they may steer you toward heavier gauge. |

Yes, my guy used that guide. And I assume he has gone through the trouble shooting. Is there a trouble shooting guide you could supply? Thanks
