Default 97 DS won't move in forward or reverse.

Hello I have a 97 Club Car DS 48 volts. The cart won't move in Forward or reverse when I press the accelerator. It will budge once and that's it. The batteries are fully charged. I checked all of the battery connections and all are good. Where do I look to next for a problem.thanks

Sounds like controller to me.

That's what I was thinking. I pulled it in the garage one day, And the next day went to ride and this happen. How do I test it.

It could also be as simple as a non-working solenoid and the cart "jumps" due to the Controller filter capacitors being charged.

Is this a Series cart (big lever FNR)?

Is the Solenoid clicking?

If it clicks, what is the voltage on the pre-charge resistor when the solenoid clicks?

Yes its series, and it does click when I press the accelerator pedal. I'm not familiar with a pre charge resistor

Pre charge resistor goes between the large post on the solenoid. It lets a little current flow around the solenoid to keep the capacitors in the controller full so that when the solenoid closes there wouldn't be a large current draw, reducing the chance for arcing on the solenoid contacts. I think Sergio is right. I'd check the solenoid before spending money on a controller.

Found the problem guys. Took a piece of wire and bypassed the resistor, hit the gas and off she went. Thanks for the help fellas.

The resistor wouldn't cause it not to run. What you did was bypassed the solenoid with the wire. You need a solenoid.

If You had measured the voltage across the pre-charge resistor (between solenoid big posts), You would have noticed the voltage go up close to pack voltage when the solenoid clicked, but it should have been 0v if the Solenoid was working.

I'll agree with Sergio all the way. Solenoid. Had one last week with exactly the same symptoms: one short blip when you first push the pedal but no actual movement forward or reverse. What seems to be happening was the precharge would give what little it had, which would give the slight "blip", but since the solenoid never closed the circuit there wasn't any current to actually run on.
