I never even get a minor rotation when I check battery terminal connections. Even those with multiple terminals under the nut. By the way, I never use a wrench or socket to tighten battery terminals. I use a Klein long shank nut driver. You get much better control to prevent the terminals from turning and will have less chance of over tighten the nuts. |

Re: Split lock washers
Those nord-lock washers are definitely impressive, but this is the "Junker" test used on the video (from their site):

Re: Split lock washers
Been using Nord Lock washers for years to keep the small 2 stroke engines in our airplane models - they work very well.... so do similar (uncut) spring washers. I just bought a grip of them for the 136 fasteners on my Lithium pack

Scottyb, did you get a different current shunt than the 300amps on that BMS listing? |

Re: Split lock washers
I'm not sure, I'll ask my battery guy. You are thinking that may be a little small?

Re: Split lock washers
It will depend on how big of a Controller and how You set it up, but I am guessing You will have it set for "wild" mode.
Since the BMS is using the shunt to keep track of AH in/out of the pack in order to provide the SOC reading, it needs to handle the max current you plan to discharge from the pack. The listing said 300amps shunt, but it did not say at what voltage: 50mV, 75mV or 100mV. So if the BMS has adjustable parameters for the shunt and the shunt is a 300amp@50mV, You could program it as: 450 amps @ 75mVSorry to get off track on this thread. |

Re: Split lock washers
We'll talk about that later when I learn more about this unit... and get set up. Right now I think we should try to stay on topic - lock washer.
