There are two separate circuits using the smaller third wires (regardless of color) in the charger plug and receptacle.

1. The third (smaller) wire in the charger plug is the battery sense wire that connects to the negative terminal.

2. The third (smaller) wire in the charger receptacle is from the red switch and disables cart while on charge.
