Default Inherited Project Cart... where to start..

Just inherited a 95 DS car. I'm really gonna go wild with this one. As many of you may know I'm very involved in the 4x4 Jeep and Rock Crawlers scene as well as golf cars.... I'm probably gonna build a crawler cart.... Solid front and rear axles, 4 linked something similar to a Jeep, with coil springs, on about 27 - 28" tires. Probably gonna rig up a front swaybar with quick disconnects to keep it streetable, but at the same time, will be able to quickly and easily convert to trail use. Haven't decided whether it's gonna be electric or something along the lines of a Honda ATV powertrain... Any suggestions are welcome! It's kind of just a brainstorm at the moment.

My workhorse build was built with an eye towards the rock crawler purpose. 10 inches of travel front and rear and 25x12x10s I learned a lot designing and building the 3 link rear with the pan-hard bar. Don't forget 4 wheel disc brakes so you can crawl down as well as up
Mine was built on 2000 Ezgo workhorse frame with a Subaru 25hp 720 V-twin.

What ever you decide to do I will be anxiously awaiting pictures

Wow, can't wait to see how it turns out. If you are truly going to crawl with it, the sudden burst from an electric motor might not be helpful, don't you think? Maybe the gas powered option is the way to go.

I figure with an MCOR or any type of continuously variable potentiometer I can keep the sudden burst under control..... I'd definitely dig holes with a V-Glide.... I honestly doubt very seriously I'll keep the vehicle. I don't need it. I just wanna build one.

I have always wanted to do, and will try so on my next build. Couple a electric motor to a samuri or Nissan independent case, I have a narrow set of dana 44's from a trencher. With the ratio of the case and axles should be able to run a 31 or so. Oh and triangulated 44 link front and rear.

I like the way you think... I've actually been looking at a D60 from a ditch witch... with steering hubs! it's perfect! Then my imagination runs away... I just put a 5.3L Chevy in my Jeep Cherokee and it was EASY!! I keep having visions of a Chevy powered Club Car! lol
