Best 8v battery
Hi Members.
Well my 2011 Trojan 8V batteries are finally acting up. Time for a pack replacement. Simple Question: Are Trojan 875s still the best battery? I thought I would be switching to Lithium Pack, but can't find a replacement for our 2011 Garia 48v. Thank you. Look forward to hearing any thoughts. M |

Re: Best 8v battery
I choose the Trojan T875 or the Crown CR190. These have both worked well for me

Re: Best 8v battery
Thanks Scotty !! Our Garia game with T-875 ELPTs. Was considering T-890s but then I thought the T-875 are 8 years old and have what I think has been a good life span. I took off the HydrolLink water system because I was getting some big different in battery water levels. Was hoping to go Lith but Garia never made a conversion for 2011 Garia LSV 2+2.

Re: Best 8v battery
Ive had good service from Trojans over 20 years and 3 carts, two of which I still have. The Trojan company was sold last year or maybe late 2018 I think, so they are on double secret probation for me. I don't think its been long enough for the new owners to muck it up yet so probably still a pretty safe bet for now. One of my carts has Crown CR190s in it now because of an opportunity for a great price. They will be 6 years old next month and seem to be fine so far. I need my carts to be able to travel ~20 miles on pavement before reaching 50% capacity. I agree based on my experience that either are pretty good. Based on your Trojan experience I would be inclined to stay with them at least one more time.

Re: Best 8v battery
Thank you for the reply. I did not notice any physical difference other than they now say "motive" on them now. I would not think they would change them but who knows. One reason I stuck with T-875s is the Garia has a built in charger, not sure about brand but I think any changes have to be made with the Curtis Programmer (which I have).
Wanted lighter Lith pack, but could not find any that had the same output as the T-875s. Garia goes 35mph and I noticed I was only getting 32-33mph with 7 + year old batteries. Look forward to hearing about Crown Vs Trojan at next battery change. M |

Re: Best 8v battery
Funny thing... when I returned the Trojan cores the sales lady told that I was wasting money that the 8v duracell was a better battery for 1/2 the price. She showed me a "starting" battery she had for $89. The deep cycle duracell was $139. They sold me Trojan 875s for $160 each. She also bragged on she been in this business for a LONG Time. I just chuckled and told thank you for your help.
