Default Now a 5kw and 600 controller

Made a call to Dave, what a nice guy to talk to and helpful. He told me my setup was on backorder and he didn’t know when it would arrive. Said he had 5kw 600 amp setups available. He told me what I needed to do to make it work in a stock cart by changing the axles. So I changed my order to a 5kw and 600 amp controller. Not sure if anyone has this setup in a stock ds. Hopefully it’s a smooth install and have her up and running by the beginning of next week.

Well felt like Xmas with ups, and fedx deliveries! Started off installing the new axle conversion, shift to driver side 1-2” so the massive 5kw will fit. When people say it’s heavy I was like maybe for some….. with the position I was in, I didn’t pull the body it was HEAVY! Installed the controller and solenoid. Wired up the controller to motor. Still have a lot left to do….

Well got the cart up and running, new batteries need to be charged. Took the cart on a quick spin and what a difference like a new cart. Need to fix a few more things, but all is well. The 5kw motor still hits the shock bracket even with the axle conversion. I dropped the leaf springs and cut the bracket on an angle to give more clearance. I’ll start playing with the app this week to report #’s. Big thanks to Dave of revolution golf carts, very quick to answer my questions with awesome customer service!

Well I’ve been using “Lil Ripper” a lot lately. Need to mess with tuning more. I have the cart set for 25 mph and 5% regen braking. Plenty fast for around town. Braking with anything more the. 5% really slows you down, I like to coast when off the pedal. Any tips for tuning to get a smoother excel pedal, when I press to about 1/4 of the way it’s like it just engages and the torque is crazy. I would like a more gradual pedal without getting whiplash. I’ve turned it up a few time and it easily hits 31-33 mph this is all GPS. I’ve seen 36 mph briefly but no need for that speed other then bragging. My cart is a 2001 ds completely stock other then axle upgrade, 5kw and navitas 600amp kit. Running t875’s and 2awg wire. Speed could easily be increased with 72v battery system and larger tires. I would highly recommend this kit to anyone who wants more speed and torque. It’s not a cheap upgrade but a lot cheaper then buying a new one for $15k.
