Default 1996 DS lift kit

Helping a friend with a lift for a 1996 DS gas and it seems there is a difference in the lift for 1996 and 1996.5 DS. His vin is AG9628. How does he determine which cart he has?
Any info appreciated.

I think in that timeframe they changed the front wheel hubs. Older ones had metal dust caps, newer plastic I think.

Difference is the rear axle and cradle assembly on gas carts. So you need to determine if the rear axle is the unitized design or if it’s the old style with separate transmission and axle bolted together. The cradle on the old style is what makes the difference in the lift kit, although the only real difference is the hardware that’s used with it.
All you have to do is look at the engine cradle.
If there’s a steel tube that runs around the outside of the cradle, it’s the old style cradle and you need the 96 and earlier lift kit.
If the cradle is a formed steel pan, it’s the new style and you need a 97 and up kit.

On electric carts you don’t need to worry about it so much, there is no difference.

Front Spindle/hub change was in 2004 iirc.

Thanks. That makes sense. I think it can be identified by rear shock lower mount. Older has eyelet and newer a threaded stud. Looks like this cart is a 1996.
