Default Matching Splines

Trying to reinstall motor in Club Car DS after brush repairs and I can't figure out how to match the male and female splines so I can put the motor back on. It's too heavy and awkward for just jiggling it back and forth. I've got the mounting screws lined up by using threaded rod. Does grabbing the motor shaft with channelocks and rotating a bit back and forth make sense?

Yep, they are heavy. I like to mark the motor case so I know where the holes are. Then slide it onto the shaft and rotate it until it lines up. Then worry about lining up the holes I marked with the bolts. I hope this helps

Wiggle and push.

I like to go from the top through the access cover. Use a strap to lift the motor and guide it into place with one arm and use the other hand to wiggle/rotate the motor case to get the splines lined up.

I joggle the motor to get the splines engaged, then align the motor with the mounting points on the axle.

Before I install the motor I mark the location of the mounting points with a sharpie on the motor case. This makes alignment real easy.
