Solenoid resister gets hot
First time user. I have a 2004 EZ Go electric golf car. When I hook the batteries up the solenoid resister gets hot before I put the key in the ignition. I ran the cart to see if it ran OK and it went forward and reverse just fine. I replaced the resister and solenoid and the resister still got very hot. I have heard that it is probably the controller has a short internally.

Re: Solenoid resister gets hot
Is it the original solenoid ? Can you attach a picture of the data plate ? That way we can look at the schematics for it. Some solenoids used a resistor, some a diode, some both and some neither.

Re: Solenoid resister gets hot
It is not normal for the precharge resistor to get hot when the ignition is off. This is most likely due to a short in the controller (maybe a shorted capacitor).
