Default Club Car question of the day

I'm looking at a 96 Club Car DS that needs a total powertrain upgrade. I'm not too familiar with Club Car so in your opinion, what years are the best years for upgrading a DS? Right now I'm thinking upgrading to either IQ or Navitas. I know I've got some work ahead of me.

Default Re: Club Car question of the day

Kinda depends. Any cart that old may have issues with getting parts for the rear axle. That's the only major thing that would usually cause an issue, if internal parts of the axle are bad. The new axles bolt right in though, but add $$$ to the build.

Battery trays rot out on those from corrosion, but new ones can be welded in by a competent welder, and then they'll be good for the next 20 years.

Certain parts of the frame are prone to cracking, and if the cart has ever been wrecked then it may not always be obvious until you try to fit a new body on it and nothing lines up correctly.

Electronics wise, if you're doing an IQ upgrade it will mean removing everything and running an IQ harness. Even the Navitas AC setup you will still need an IQ harness to plug that into. So if that's your direction plan on a total strip of all the electrical parts.
