![]() Just double checking, Mixed 4 gallons of fuel for my G1 using penzoil tcw3 ratio 85:1 Runs fine, but was reading that tcw is only rated for water cooled, not air cooled. did I screw up?

![]() I use it in my Harley and EZGO and they run fine and the manufacturer usually suggests TCW-3 oil so it’s fine you can keep using it

![]() Unsurprisingly mr willis is wrong and providing incorrect information again. I thought we were past this by now….
Anyhoo… I’d recommend a better oil. Amsoil can be found at pretty much any auto parts store and is a much better oil. And more importantly, it is designed for your application. Air cooled engines run hotter than water cooled, typically run higher rpm, and the additive packages and general requirements are very different. Marine oil is NOT the same. It doesn’t burn the same, it doesn’t work the same, and it can create issues such as fouled plugs, lower power output, and can gum up your muffler. |

Yamaha recommends yamalube. There’s 2 flavors for air cooled 2 stroke oil… yamalube 2S and 2R 2S is for oil injection systems and 2R is for premix. Someone is welcome to correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the biggest difference between the two is the 2R is a bit thicker to work properly and not have too much injected. Yamalube is good but not always easy to find. But walk into almost any auto parts store in the country and youll find amsoil 2 stroke oil, which is good stuff. I always recommend disabling the oil injection on any 2 stroke and premixing anyway. |
