Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
Left charger on for approx 14hrs and battery light on dash was lit solid, and charger had automatily shut off.
I then unplugged charger and battery light turned off then blinked once. After that I disconnected main wires from battery pack and measured volts and it showed 49.7. What's next ? Quote:

Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
So it actually did pop up .7 Volts or were you Ballparking it the first time ?
I think at 50 Volts it should at least Grunt so I'll go with CC-Johns suggestion and test the motor. Things which the book says to check if you have Solinoic click but cart wont move are For 48 Volt PowerDrive with single and multi step poenetiometer 1. Batteries - check 2. Solnoid - 3. F/R switck - ? 4. Potentiometer - ? 5. Controller - ? 6. Motor. If you dont get your book in by this WE let me know and I copy and email you the procedure for testing Both sides of the Motor. CC-John may be able to walk you through it , but it's a 5 Page procedure . One suggestion to help keep it streight on What Has and has not been checked , Cut edit and paster Items 1 Thru 6 for each reply !! Good luck , just email me direct, friday afternoon if you need the procedure ! |

Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
OK guys..........Last night I ran a jumper from small red post on cellunoid to main positve terminal, jacked cart up and it started running when I pressed accelerator.
I then lowered cart down and took a spin around the block. Here is what I found: -key is off but cart still runs? -The reverse did not work(I wonder if it has something to do with me disconnecting the reverse buzzer and putting wire nuts on each lead?) -When excelrating it seemed that all the speeds were not there and you had to be very sensitve with pedal to find a "sweet spot" to keep cart moving. Any ideas? |

Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
1. Batteries - check
2. Solnoid - check 3. F/R switck - ? 4. Potentiometer - ? Looks very corroded and broke off when I messed with it. (ordered new one) 5. Controller - ? 6. Motor- Check Last night I ran a jumper from small red post on cellunoid to main positve terminal, jacked cart up and it started running when I pressed accelerator. I then lowered cart down and took a spin around the block. Here is what I found: -key is off but cart still runs? -The reverse did not work, but there is power at the reverse buzzer wires when I put in reverse. -When excelrating it seemed that all the speeds were not there and you had to be very sensitive with pedal to find a "sweet spot" to keep cart moving. |

Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
Morrison, the reverse would not work due to blue wire on carts end of plug to pot box it was corroded off. I replaced wire and now it is OK......but
I have now installed new pot box and when I press go pedal it starts surging in forward and will go in reverse fairly smooth, but the more I press on go pedal it will start surging as well. Total volts are 49.6 at main leads... Your thoughts ? P.S. I cannot wait to show you guys what I have done to this cart in my "dead time" you have seen nothing like it before....thanks again for your help!!! |

Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
1. You should have the Manual by now ?
2. Did you receive and replace Potentiometer - ? and please update so I and others can keep track of what has been done. 1. Batteries - check 2. Solnoid - check 3. F/R switch - ? 4. Potentiometer - ? Looks very corroded and broke off when I messed with it. (ordered new one) 5. Controller - ? 6. Motor- Check I think what you will find is even the wires which may have Been good this week may corrode over and Fail the Next . The same is true with the Motor and its Windings as well as other active devices. Any wire, any device ...etc which was exposed or in the area of the Salt Water replace it, otherwise this is a moving Target with new Failures ever day or week. Here is a link for another Ike rebuild which may help http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...rtesy-ike.html |

Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
1. Batteries - check
2. Solnoid - check 3. F/R switch - Check 4. Potentiometer - check...installed brand new. 5. Controller - ? 6. Motor- Check Cart does not appear to have been submerged just blown around quite a bit and has also lived it's life driving up and down the beach. I called a couple of local shops and they mentioned that 1 dead cell can cause this problem. I am going to bring load tester home today and see what I got. |

Re: Another "Ike" casuality question ???
Just a couple questions - WHERE's the pictures and how much is the repair bill so far???
From the begining I have been willing to bet this cart will end up costing more than purchasing a running vehicle... |
