Re: CC-ds 2002 axels spin quietly and no play or tight spots in them
The axel is held into the rear housing by a large "C" clip that needs a strong angle jawed snap-ring plier to release it...it might be worth the effort to inspect the bearing...I also found the snap ring was damaged on my cart because somebody didn't have the right tool and had used a punch or chisel on the snap-ring.

I rotated the axel shafts.both ...several rounds... quickly and slowly, They are smooth as silk.i am thinking now as what revolution carts......david hicks has been sharing with me.The slop is.most likely wear between the ring gear and the motor shaft{ electric}gear.A restoring kit is what i think I may be needing. i will order, but need a picture...... of that area, of the motor, and rearend. before i take it apart.thank you much for your input "the boss' its appreciated much bob s |

In my 14 years at one of the largest Club Car dealerships in the world I've never seen any gear wear within a differential.

Take the motor off Bob and see if it clunks. If it does, it's in the gear case, if it doesn't, buy a motor centering kit and you'll be good to go.

Re: CC-ds 2002 axels spin quietly and no play or tight spots in them
Bob...a couple of old guy tips from one old guy to another...the motor is heavy enough to be dangerous if you are laying under the cart trying to take it out and it's awkward...what I did was tied a ratchet load tie-down belt around it and tightened the ratchet until it was tight...then I took the other end and tied it to a two by four and laid that across the opening where the batteries are with the seat removed. This allowed me to use the upper two-by-four as a way of controlling the motor coming out and going back in without dropping the motor on the floor or on my head. I am sure there are other ways but this worked for me...
