2011 YDRE - seeking beeper knowledge
While waiting to talk with Don at Plowman's about a motor, I decided to do some other maintenance on the cart. The back-up beeper has never worked since we got the cart. It never bothered us that it didn't work but while reading this forum, I noted some of the troubleshooting steps mention the beeper.
My question is this. Is a working beeper really necessary? How is it helpful in troubleshooting? Thanks in advance. |

Re: 2011 YDRE - seeking beeper knowledge
The YDRE controller is a common failure point, and 99% of the time when the controller is failed, reverse beeper stops working. It can also tell you "the controller & motor are good, look elsewhere" if it beeps & resists motion when the cart is pushed around.
Otherwise, it's a legal liability to keep the beeper disabled, if you back into a person, and they realize you dont have a beeper, their chances of a successful lawsuit just went way, way up. There is one vehicle line that wont run without a beeper, ezgo rxv & 2five (controller damage will result on some versions of the 2 mentioned above). Your cart wont be disabled or damaged by operation without beeper. |

Appreciate the knowledge share.
The pink wire on ours had been cut (to disable it I'm sure). We use the cart on our farm so not real worried about backing into someone. However, since I now know it is used as a troubleshooting aid, I'll replace it. No real reason not to. |

Re: 2011 YDRE - seeking beeper knowledge
We just put sticky velcro over the beeper hole to quiet it down some, less annoying that way, but still functional. You can fix yours by just splicing the wires back together.

Re: 2011 YDRE - seeking beeper knowledge
Ended up getting a new one. The previous owner of the cart had cut one of the wires right next to the plastic body; nothing for me to splice. Thought about taking the back off and repairing it that way but decided it not worth the trouble.
New one works great. Added the sticky velcro modification. |
