Default radio problems in g1

i installed a radio in my g1 and when i push the accelerator the radio goes off sometimes blowing fuse sometimes not its across 2 6v batteries i keep goin through fuses im sure its cause the current goes up and the voltage goes down when i accelerator or go up a hill i thought maybe i needed a voltage regulator but idk im lost right now do i need one should i put it across another battery for 18v or will that blow the radio i have gone though several radios due to this problem so do i need a voltage regulator or no?? if so can you guys suggest a regulator? any help is appreciated
