Default Carb replacement

I have a 85 EZ Go GX series cart with the Robin 244 cc engine. I can't seem to get the float level set. It is either too high and floods or is too low and won't allow fuel into the carb. Is there a replacement carb that would work.
By the way, I have disabled the oil injection system as the pump is no good and am now mixing oil in the fuel. I don't know if this is part of the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Default Re: Carb replacement

I have an 86 and after many cleanings and much reseting I came to the reluctant conclusion that a 25 + year old carburetor was never going to be at its prime so I bit the bullet and bought a new one. Now my cart runs like it just came off the production line. The correct model is the BV 18 and there are many available your target price is ~$100.

It is a good idea to remove the oil pump and premix the fuel. You must however ensure that the old oil pipe is sealed to prevent air being sucked into the manifold. I recommend that you cut the oil pipe about 1 inch from the carburetor elbow and drive a mastic covered screw into the pipe. If you want to you can tidy up by removing the pump, linkage and reservoir completely.

You should now mix your fuel at 1 ounce oil to 1 gallon of fuel, which is 128:1. Yes I know it sounds dreadfully lean but trust me on this issue. You will hurt your engine if you run it much richer.

As a final point it is not good to just throw the oil and gas into the gas tank. You should mix them in a separate container and shake vigorously to mix the solution before you pour it into the tank.
