Battery Trouble?
It has been two weeks since I used my DSWe yesterday, it was pretty much dead. Would roll on a flat with no real power and had nothing for small hills. Made a clicking sound or surged. No meter to test with, but red dash light was on even with key removed. Recently upgraded all cables to 4 gauge and cleaned everything up. Tested the battery pack before taking it back to the course. Pack was at 50.5v after a 12hrs of sitting. Used the cart 2-3 times a week for a two week period and even played 36 holes one day. What would cause the batteries to dis-charge so rapidly?

Re: Battery Trouble?
So, are you saying you charged the cart, and have used the cart 2 or 3 time a week, and played 36 holes and have not charged the cart in two weeks?? If you drive the cart for the day it needs to be charged when you park it, before you drive it again. you can only go 15 or 20 miles before it needs to be recharged

Re: Battery Trouble?
Sorry about that Rib. During the weeks of usage, the cart was plugged in and charged after each use. The last time I used it, which was 14 days ago. The cart was charging when I left, but was dead yesterday.

Re: Battery Trouble?
Positive no ones using the cart, it's locked up in private storage. In the first couple weeks, I was using the cart daily or every other day. Once it sat for a couple weeks, the battery were low. I believe the charger kicks on every 15-16 days correct?

Re: Battery Trouble?
How old are your batteries? The rested pack voltage you listed is only 90 % not the 100 % you would expect to see with good batteries. What is the pack voltage after 24 hours or 2 days and/or 2 weeks?
If you've got one or more weak batteries and you regularly use and charge them they can keep up with this use. But once sitting on a Power-Drive charger that looks at the OBC for intel on energy use it will not turn back on and recharge the batteries if it does not sense any change in status. This was the issue with my cart with bad batteries in that as long as it was used and charged daily it seemed fine but once sitting on a charger for weeks it would still go dead.... Check your water levels, check your specific gravity, check cell voltage, check each battery voltage, and check voltage as a pack. Repeat the battery voltage test over the course of a few days without use or charge and you will likely see the batteries falling off.... |

Re: Battery Trouble?
Teecro...That all makes sense. The batteries are 6-7yrs old. The cart was only used 2-3 times a tear in the last 4 years while I owned a Tomberlin. Water level always maintained. I'll have to get the equip. necessary to test the battery cells, etc.. Thanks for the help.

There is the problem. Batteries 6 - 7 yr old are going to act like that. Even if they were only used 2-3 times in the last 4 yrs. They are old!! CartTrader |
