Default G29 Moves with Starter

I have a 2007 G29 gas with a complete performance setup from Plowmans (drive clutch, driven clutch, belt). I have not used the cart in the past year or so but when getting it going again I noticed it begins to move as soon as the starter engages.

I think the whole clutch setup probably has less than two hours on it, but I do not remember if it lurched like this before.

I assume this is bad and will be hard on the starter at minimum.

Any thoughts?

It will also make grooves into your clutches starting it like this.
It sounds like the old TEAM clutch problems before you put the plowmans on.
If plowmans is doing the same thing, that’s weird.
Look at the clutches, make sure the drive clutch is open all the way, the outer clutch should touch the or be close to the spacer and bolt. The belt should have some play in it.
Usually the driven isn’t an issue because if it’s not opening the entire way, the belt will be lose.
I have the plowmans setup also on an 08 g29 and mine doesn’t lurch

I attached a picture, but the belt appears to be plenty loose enough and the primary clutch seems to be all the way open.

It almost seems as if the belt is a just a little too wide.

It looks good to me on the drive clutch.
Now maybe the belt is too tight or needs some breaking in maybe.

If it really hasn’t been used in a while the belt may just be a bit stiff. As long as the drive pulley is opening it should be fine. Yamaha’s don’t have an idler bearing in the clutch like most Club Cars, so there is always at least some friction.

I have the same belt and my clutches were also reworked by Plowman. He also put a spring in the primary to make sure it opens all the way. My cart will move ever so slightly on the starter, but it's a smooth motion, not a "lurch", or grab. Performance when running is great. Shifting is smooth, and it always returns to the lowest "gear" when stopping. It does take some time to "break in" the belt, so your problem may disappear with more hours running, especially if it hasn't been used in a long while.
