Last year someone messed with my cart to make it run faster. Since then there is a gas smell and occassional backfire. THat person is not around to undo what he did. Any thoughts?

The backfire sounds like the ignition is cutting off before the carb is closed. may need a cable or rod adjustment. gas smell usually come from leaks or overflow out the carb.

I've replaced ALL fuel lines, and I don't notice any overflow from carb overflow tube..

I'm on my own with this cart...I've never set the valves before, I don't really have anyone who works on these carts in my area.
