So I broke down and finally went and had the S/G rebuilt. ($145.00 ouch)
Turns out that the F2 post was broken inside, so I hope that was the problem.
I will know more later today when the temp outside drops down below 100 deg.'s

Everyone is Jumping for Joy
Well at least I am!
That seemed to do the trick. After replacing the S/G I was getting 12.67 volts at the battery, at 3/4 acceleration
(and thats without the direct ground from the V/R to the battery)

(I have one more issue, but I am going to start another thread for that)

So glad I found this thread. Our G1 we just got isn't charging the battery. This gives me pleanty of things to try before I dump money on the S/G which I will do if I have too.

Mine did same thing. I didn't have great luck with checking the V.R. but I found a new one on E-Bay for around $30...figured why not and put a new one on even though I wasn't sure.

The regulator was indeed the problem...good to go. So it may be worth replacing it just to see.
